The Box Tree Moth is a serious threat to beloved boxwoods! Keep your boxwoods safe by knowing what to look for and taking protective measures.
What to look for:
- Brown/yellow, chewed leaves, and/or defoliation
- Small, white cocoons and/or webbing
- Clusters of green-yellow eggs on leaves and frass
- Green caterpillars with black heads and white stripes
Protection:
- Monitor for signs of the Box Tree Moth from mid-May to early September
- Apply an insecticide when the Box Tree Moth caterpillars are feeding on boxwood foliage. It is not effective on eggs, pupae, and adult moths!
