Caladiums deserve a spot in your planters or garden! Here’s why:
1. They look like living works of art! Their leaves feature stunning combinations of red, pink, white, and green with speckles, veins, and stripes that look hand-painted.
2. They are shade superstars! Most varieties thrive in full to partial shade, while some can tolerate the sun.
3. They are very versatile! Caladiums are great for containers, hanging baskets, garden beds, and borders. Please note that they are classified as annuals in our area and cannot tolerate cooler temperatures.
4. They are easy to care for! Keep soil evenly moist (not soggy). Water at the base of the plant and avoid watering during the hottest part of the day (12-4 P.M.) to prevent leaf burn. Applying fertilizer weekly or biweekly will keep their leaves looking lush all season long.
