It’s time to protect your fruit trees, roses, and some deciduous ornamentals before the growing season begins!
Dormant spray protects against overwintering pests and disease. You can purchase a dormant spray kit for $27.99, which includes one 500 mL bottle of horticultural oil concentrate and one 1 L bottle of lime sulphur concentrate.
Here are some important dormant spray reminders:
🌳Apply in early spring before leaf buds show green at the tips
🌳Do not apply after buds have broken or leaves have emerged
🌳Spray on a mild, dry day when temperatures are above 5°C
🌳Do not spray if temperatures are below freezing or if a freeze is expected within 48 hours before or after spraying
🌳Apply earlier in the day so the spray has time to dry before nighttime temperatures drop
🌳Do not use on maple trees, Japanese maples, evergreens, redbuds, etc.
🌳Always follow the mixing and safety instructions on the package
🌳Use a hose end or pump sprayer to coat all surfaces of the tree, including the bark and branches, starting from the top and working down
