Shamrocks are a great addition to your houseplant collection, even if you do not celebrate St. Patrick’s Day!

Shamrocks are grown from small bulbs and are known for their unique foliage and delicate blooms. To keep your shamrock happy and healthy, place it in bright, indirect light and allow the soil to dry out slightly between watering.

All of the shamrocks at Vermeer’s are homegrown! We sell four different varieties: Oxalis regnelliiOxalis triangularisOxalis ‘Iron Cross’ and Oxalis tricolour. Our 4” shamrocks are $2.99 and our 6” shamrocks are $6.99. Available both in-store and online!

4″ Oxalis Regnellii Shamrock (White Flower) ($2.99)
in a 5.5″ Gold Pot ($9.99)

Did you know? Shamrocks’ clover-shaped leaves fold up at night and reopen when exposed to morning light. Do not be alarmed if you notice that your shamrock is “sleeping”.

Shamrock plants are said to be good luck! While finding a four-leaf clover is quite uncommon, one out of approximately 10,000 three-leaf clovers actually have four leaves. You will notice, however, that some oxalis varieties have four leaves naturally.

While you can certainly place your shamrock plant outside during the summer months, please note that the shamrock varieties we carry are not hardy to our area and cannot survive year-round in your garden.

If you have pets at home, be aware that shamrocks are toxic to both cats and dogs. They have a very bitter taste, which often deters cats and dogs from consuming large amounts of the plant, but it is best to keep shamrocks away from your furry friends.

6″ Oxalis Regnellii Shamrock (Lavender Flower) ($6.99)
with a Green Shamrock Pick ($1.99)
