Are you planning on ordering a custom porch pot from Vermeer’s this Christmas season? We will start accepting custom porch pot orders on Monday, November 1st, 2021!

If you have not ordered a custom porch pot from us before, we have put together a list of do’s and don’ts so you know what to expect and how to prepare your porch pot inserts and decorations before bringing them in to our designers. Even if you have ordered a custom porch pot from us before, we encourage you to review the information below so that dropping off your porch pot materials will be as seamless as possible.

DO: Save your 10″ or 12″ plastic fall mum pots or plastic summer planter inserts and bring them in to Vermeer’s to be revamped for the Christmas season.

DON’T: Do not throw out your plastic pots/inserts! We will be charging extra if you do not bring in your own plastic inserts. Prices will vary depending on the size and the style of the insert chosen.

DO: Chop down the plants in your plastic inserts, but leave the soil and roots behind.

DON’T: Do not bring in plastic inserts that are full of dead plant material. Dispose of any dead plant material beforehand, but do not completely empty the pots.

Check out the blog post titled “Don’t Get Rid of Your Potted Mums After Thanksgiving!” for more details on keeping and preparing your plastic inserts for porch pots.

DO: Test out your plastic inserts, making sure that the rim goes over the edge of the decorative pots you are placing them into.

DON’T: Do not choose plastic inserts that are too small or too large for the pot you are placing them into or your greens will not sit nicely.

DO: Go through any porch pot decorations you have from last year (ornaments, cones, ribbon, etc.) and decide what you would like to reuse this year.

DON’T: Do not bring in any old dogwood, curly willow, magnolia/dried greens or broken decorations to be reused.

DO: Test out any electric or battery operated lights you would like incorporated into your custom porch pot to make sure they are working properly.

DON’T: Do not forget to bring in batteries if you are using battery operated lights. We will be charging extra for batteries if they are not provided.

DO: Pre-label your plastic inserts and the container or bag you are going to store your porch pot decorations in before bringing them to our designers. On the label, please write your first and last name, as well as your phone number.

DON’T: Do not bring in any loose decorations. Store them in a container or a bag. Don’t forget to label them before arriving at Vermeer’s!

Please note that our fresh greens have not arrived yet. We are hoping they will arrive between the first and second week of November. Once they arrive, our porch pot designers will begin filling custom orders. Custom orders will be filled on a first come first served basis.

Thank you for your cooperation!
