It is time to start thinking about custom porch pots!
If you would like to order a custom porch pot from Vermeer’s we will not be accepting any plastic pots, inserts, or decorations until Monday, November 4th, 2024.
Starting Monday, October 7th, 2024, you can call us to reserve your porch pot date. You will be asked to provide your name, phone number, desired date, and let us know how many custom porch pots you are ordering. We receive a high volume of custom porch pot orders every year, so we encourage you to reach out to us and reserve your date!
Here are some important reminders if you are thinking about ordering a custom porch pot from Vermeer’s.
Save your 10″ or 12″ plastic fall mum pots or plastic summer planter inserts with their rooted soil to be recycled and revamped for the Christmas season. We will be charging extra if you do not bring in your own plastic inserts. Prices will vary depending on the size and the style of the insert chosen.
Cut down the plants in your plastic inserts but keep the soil and roots (see photo). Placing fresh greens into a pot with established roots and soil results in a much sturdier porch pot. Do not bring in plastic inserts with leftover plant material (leaves, stems, etc.).
Evaluate your plastic inserts, making sure that the rim goes over the edge of the decorative pots you are placing them in. If your plastic inserts are too small or too large your fresh greens will not sit nicely. Ensure your plastic inserts are not cracked!
Go through any porch pot decorations you have (ornaments, cones, ribbon, etc.) and decide what you would like to use this year. Do not bring in any old dogwood, curly willow, magnolia/dried greens, or worn/broken decorations to be reused.
Test out any electric or battery-operated lights you would like incorporated into your custom porch pot to make sure they are working properly. Do not forget to bring in batteries if you are using battery-operated lights. We will be charging extra for batteries if they are not provided.
Label your plastic inserts and the container/bag you are storing your porch pot decorations in before bringing them to Vermeer’s. On the label, please write your first and last name, as well as your phone number.
We will be closed Monday, October 14th, 2024, for Thanksgiving.
