Why is it that we have shamrocks to celebrate Saint Patrick’s day? There is a long (and interesting) history involving Saint Patrick, who was believed to be the founder of Christianity in Ireland. The idea behind the shamrock derives from the belief that Saint Patrick used it as a representation to show people a physical explanation of the Holy Trinity. This would have been used when he was a missionary in Ireland.
